For years St. Mary’s Home and School Association has made Halloween an extra fun time for students with classroom parties and ”Trunk or Treat” events held in the school’s parking lot. This evolved into Halloween Fun Night! On the Friday night after first quarter conferences the night before, volunteer parents and Home and School officers decorated the gym and the gym lobby while teachers and students decorated their classroom doors. A photo booth, games, a door decorating contest and a costume parade with prizes for different age groups was held along with pizza and treats for all! We’ve had to adapt to a lot of changes this year due to COVID-19, but we haven’t missed out on much, especially when it comes to fun. Last Friday, St. Mary’s students were treated to a Halloween Scavenger Hunt thanks to Home and School and with the blessings of Dr. Wallinger. Nineteen families along with Miss Kallman and Dr. Wallinger bundled up and volunteered their driveways and yards so parents could drive their “ghosts and goblins” around to each house in the hope of finding the scavenger item placed somewhere in their yard. Students didn’t have to get out of their cars but were welcome to do so if they wished, following social distancing guidelines. The Home and School Association provided treats at each stop. Even though the weather was beyond chilly, it was a great spooky adventure around Bellevue! The scavenger hunt road rally was a two-and a half hour event. For more photos click here.
