A big part of our school year centered on being of service to others. The first graders took this to heart and included the Earth in their efforts to be servant leaders. They learned that the Crayola company recycles any brand of marker, highlighter and pen, so they sponsored a school wide project to collect all the used markers from each classroom and extended day. We took them to Sarpy County's Earth Day celebration and just heard that the children's efforts kept 1,175 markers weighing 23.5 pounds out of the landfill. We have been designated a ColorCycle School!
