Scouts throughout the U.S. celebrated Scout Sunday on February 5th and St. Mary’s Church celebrated its 64th anniversary of sponsoring Scouts. During the 12:30 Mass both Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts received recognition for the religious medals they earned. The scouts learned how important God is in their life, their families and their community. The religious medals are for the different stages of a Scout’s spiritual journey. Caleb Braxton of St. Mary’s Pack 305 earned the Light of Christ medal. Four other Cub Scouts are working on their Parvulei Dei medals, which will be awarded at a later date. Five Boy Scouts of Troop 305 earned the Ad Altare Dei which is designed for 13 and 14-year-old boys and is organized around the seven Sacraments. St. Mary’s own, Cathy Braxton received the Bronze Pelican, a religious medal for adults who help scouts in their religious life. For more photos click here.
