It’s not quite the 12 Days of Christmas but it’s pretty close. Working together, St. Mary’s School and Parish raised $920 during Advent for Heifer International. Our donation included: 5 honeybee startups buzzing, 4 flocks of chicks clucking, 3 flocks of geese honking, 3 flocks of ducks quacking, 3 rabbits hopping, one llama leaping, one goat bleating, one pig oinking, and one sheep “baa”ing! At Heifer International the core gifting model includes “Passing on the Gift.” Families that receive animals share the training they receive, and pass on the first female offspring of their livestock to another family. This allows a once impoverished family to become donors and full participants in improving their communities. Together, we, and the families that received our gifts of animals, keep “Passing on the Gift.” What a great way to practice charity, kindness and care for those in need around the world. Congratulations and a big “Thank You” to everyone who played a part in our fundraising efforts.
