A Chance to Compete

Chess1Fifteen competitors from St Mary's School participated in the Omaha Central High Chess tournament this weekend. In all, over 300 students registered to compete in the tournament. St. Mary's took 5th place overall. The rest of the line up looked like this: North American Martyr (Lincoln) took 1st Place, St. Patrick's was 2nd, 3rd place went to Mary Our Queen, and Wahoo came in 4th. Some of our students did well competing against student's two grades above them. Vincent, a 6th grader came in 5th playing against kids 2 years older than himself and Brianna, a 3rd grader did great as well, her first tournament and she played against 4th and 5th graders (3 others from her own school) and took 10th.
