Dia del Muerte - Day of the Dead

DayoftheDead2Mr. and Mrs. Martinez Albert, parents of Sean and Tyler, came in on Friday to share their first hand knowledge of Day of the Dead with the Pre-K , Kindergarten and First grade classes. Señora Martinez, dressed as "La Calavera Catrina", Mexico's "grande dame of death", explained how the two-day observance is a time to remember those whom have passed. DayoftheDead5The students were able to see typical items found in Mexico during this observance. They each tasted "el pan de muerto", "dead bread", and made their own happy skull. It was lots of fun and a great learning experience. Many thanks to Señor y Señora Martinez Albert! for more photos click here.
