Imagine how one class can change a child's life. In this case it changed a whole family's. "We have incorporated national parks, memorials, and monuments in every summer vacation we've taken since Lia's 4th grade year with Mrs. Feagan" says Mary Ellen Reckmeyer. Lia graduated from St. Mary's in 2015. The first three years of our national park trips, Lia participated in the Junior Ranger programs, earning badges that represented the parks we visited. Their adventures have taken them from coast to coast. Oh the wonders of America they have seen.
2011: Mount Rushmore National Park, Devil's Tower National Monument, Custer State Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Badlands National Park
2012: Yellowstone National Park, Fort Robinson State Park, Chimney Rock National Historic Site
2013: Many Washington D.C. Memorials & Monuments, Shenandoah National Park, Gettysburg National Military Park
2014: Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, Torrey Pines State Park, Muir Woods National Park
2015: Grand Canyon National Park
Lia Rose and her Dad went on a special "Daughter/Dad" vacation in 2013 based on her 4th grade Mesa Verde national park presentation. They travelled to Mesa Verde National Park, Arches National Park, and Sand Dunes National Park.
Mrs. Reckmeyer says, "We have been truly blessed to share the beauty of nature with our children throughout the years." For more photos click here.
