Hemi was the lucky pig to get the kiss from Dr. Wallinger. That was just one of the many things he will be doing this summer. Jake Jones, Hemi’s owner cares for him every day and plans to show the pig all summer at different 4-H shows ending up at the Sarpy County fair in Springfield, NE. Catherine Jones shared the wonders of 4-H with the students and the great experiences rural and urban youth gain by participating in the 4-H program. Makayla Burg gave some lessons on how to show pigs, which included how to wash and train them. The Country Bumpkins 4-H club provides these youth opportunities during the summer teaching and training them about various home ec projects and livestock. The students got more than they ever dreamed when Hemi came to St. Mary’s.
