The Missionary Society of St. Columban invited Archbishop George Lucas to preside over the Mass and dedication of the Columban Martyrs Memorial Garden May 26th.
Two of St. Mary's students, served as altar servers for the Mass and fourteen of our students participated in the choir for the special event. The Memorial Garden memorializes the legacy of 24 Columban missionaries who gave their lives for our faith. This special place of reflection honors their sacrifice. The garden is located on the grounds at the Columban House in Bellevue at 1902 Calhoun Street. You are more than welcome to come visit the Garden and the Columban Fathers to learn more about the martyrs and the Columban mission.
Alumni Volunteer at Columban Martyrs Memorial Garden Dedication
More than 250 people attended the Columban Martyrs Memorial Garden dedication and Mass on May 26th. Some St. Mary's alumni volunteered in the all day affair. They were a big help with the guests. They acted as guides and the guests who attended the event really enjoyed visiting with them and finding out what church they were from.
