St. Mary’s Chess Tournament

SMChess1St. Mary's held its 4th Annual Chess Tournament March 19th and it was a huge success. Twenty-two schools including St. Mary's, and 87 players participated in the tournament, 21 of them from St. Mary's. There were students from 1st grade through 8th grade. Team Trophies go to: 1st Place North American Martyrs, 2nd Place St. Mary's School and 3rd Place St. Pius/St. Leo.

The following students earned trophies: Jacob Legner, (2nd Place) Jude Storch, (3rd Place) Vincent Morales (2nd Place) and Nick Kouba (1st Place) for their grade level.SMChess6

This event required many volunteers from setting up the night before, running concession, working registration, directing families and cleaning up.
Many thanks to Mrs. Kellie Kouba for spearheading the entire event. Many hours were involved! This event would not have been possible without her direction, and enthusiasm and many hours of work.

St Mary's Information

St. Mary's Catholic School is a Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade School of the Archdiocese of Omaha. Our mission is to provide a Catholic education that nurtures students' hearts and minds to become servant leaders in an ever-changing world.

Our philosophy of education is to offer a five-day program to assist families in teaching those truths, skills, and ideals, which are necessary for Christian living. We believe that education must develop the faculties and abilities of the whole child: spiritually, intellectually, physically, and emotionally.
