Scouting is celebrating its 106th year in America and St. Mary's has been sponsoring Scouting for 63 of those years. On Sunday, February 7th four cub scouts, Kian Janulewicz, Jeremiah Morrissey, Nicholas Swiecicki and Hunter Wallace received the Light of Christ award, which coincides with their preparations for the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. Three cub scouts earned the next religious medal, the Parvuli Dei, Justin Holdcroft , Caleb Luyando and Jude Storch. This award is given to a cub or webelo scout for advancement in their religious knowledge and spiritual growth. All of these scouts have worked on becoming more centered on God's love, their identity as important members of their family, the parish, and their community and as members of God's family. A special award was given to Eagle Scout, and our parish priest, Father Denny for his efforts for the past 12 years supporting scouting. Lynn Trimpey awarded Fr. Denny with a statue of St. George, the patron Saint of Scouts. For photos click here.
