Fifth graders recently studied "Work and Machines" in Science. They each created a "Rube Goldberg-inspired" compound machine as part of a final assessment. Makayla's "Light's On!" machine incorporated at least three simple machines and accomplished a simple task. In her case she used inclined planes, levers and pulleys to flip a switch. It would've been much easier to simply turn on the light - but not nearly as much fun! Many of the kids created their machines at home and then shared videos. Here is Makayla's. Take a look.
