For over 20 years St. Mary's School has welcomed the Omaha Symphony to its school where they conduct Mission: Imagination. For two of our students, Preston Steinke (Pre-K) and Mayla Thiher (K) Mission Imagination became Mission: Reality as they learned from Melvin the Explorer (Lauren Krupski) how to conduct an orchestra. Our Pre-K through 3rd grade students joined in the fun interactive concert which took them on musical adventures. This year they helped Melvin the Explorer navigate through treacherous terrains and solve musical riddles to unravel the mysteries of melody, harmony, and rhythm to find the Golden Baton. Earlier in the week the eighth grade students made the Pre-K class shaker rhythm instruments for the play-a-long portion of the concert. The older kids were happy to do this service project for the youngest of our students and were no doubt reminded of their own fun experiences with the Omaha Symphony in the past! Thank you Omaha Symphony for a wonderful adventure.
