Well Deserved Thanks

PegAward1Every year at the veteran's assembly St. Mary's School honors and thanks the veterans, the guest speaker and those who have helped in a special way. This year the veteran assembly committee decided it was time to thank a fellow teacher, Miss Kallman.
However, the thank you didn't happen at the veteran's assembly. It happened on January 6th, the Feast of the Three Kings when many countries give gifts like the Three Wise Men did so many years ago.
On behalf of all St. Mary's students and staff, a token of their appreciation for all the patriotic songs she teaches, including the military service branch songs, the children's "thank you" song and so many others, Mrs. Storch, Mrs. Shanker and Mrs. Feagan presented Miss Kallman with a framed replica of a quill pen sketch of Francis Scott Key and his words to the Star Spangled Banner. The sketch, done on parchment paper, shows Key sitting on a ship anchored outside of Ft. McHenry, as the US forces battled the British in their attempt to take over the city of Baltimore. That is where Key wrote the words to the Star Spangled Banner.
This special thank you for Miss Kallman's "patriotic musical tributes" as described on the frame's plaque is just a small way to show the school's deepest appreciation to an outstanding teacher who gives so much to her students and our veterans.
