A Final Farewell to Sr. Regina Marie Bruner O.P.

Sr ReginaSister Regina Marie and Sister Claire (also deceased) were the last two original Dominican Sisters at St. Mary's School. They both left in the 80's. They were the last two nuns to live in the convent at St. Mary's before it became classrooms. Sr. Regina taught 1st grade.

Dominican Sister of Peace Regina Marie Bruner, O.P., 85, a native of Mattoon, IL, died April 24, 2015, at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, KY.

A Dominican for 65 years, Sr. Regina earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education,English and Social Studies from Siena College in Memphis, TN. She ministered as a teacher at St. Bartholomew (Chicago, IL); Nativity (Memphis, TN); St. Joseph (Mattoon, IL); St Simon and Jude (Louisville, TN); St. Teresa (Lincoln, NE); Blessed Sacrament (Grand Island, NE); Sacred Heart (Greeley, NE) and St. Mary (Bellevue, NE). In 1983, Sr. Regina ministered as a receptionist/office assistant at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine. In 1988, Sr. Regina was a part-time secretary as well as tutor at St. Dominic School in Springfield. In 1996, Sr. Regina returned to Sansbury Care Center where she was a computer assistant. Beginning in 2001, Sr. Regina ministered as a volunteer and provided community service at St. Catharine Motherhouse, St. Catharine. In 2004, Sr. Regina moved to Sansbury Care Center (St. Catharine, KY), where she entered a ministry of prayer and presence.
