St. Mary and St. Matthew's 4th grade students got to see many of the things they've studied about in Nebraska History this year on their trip to Lincoln. Their first stop was to the Nebraska State Historical Society Headquarters. The students were excited coming here since they read a book about Mari Sanders an author who lived in the Nebraska Sand hills. She worked in this building while a student at UNL. Their next stop, Morrill Hall which is always fun, this time the students were found running from wooly Mammoths. After that adventure they were off to the state capitol where they saw the legislative chamber, and the Supreme Courtroom. Up next, a tour of the Governor's mansion. The tour included the governor's press conference and meeting room, a dining room where place settings are $3,000 each, a room with "First Ladies" dolls dressed in replicas of their Inauguration gowns and one "First Man" doll for Gov. Kay Orr's husband. They got to see the dining room where the governor and his family eat but could not go up to the 2nd floor where the family lives. Then as the day was winding down and they were driving back to Bellevue the tour bus stopped at the Holy Family Shrine, truly one of the highlights of the trip. Another great trip filled with lots of memories. For photos from the field trip click here.
