There are lots of traditions at St. Mary's. As an 8th grader you know you will walk the halls in a mini parade of your classmates donning hats that you created. Not just any hat mind you, it must have a theme. As you can imagine they are all very different, as different as each student. We saw everything from a "Shark Week" hat to a globe hat. The hat must meet several criteria, it must measure a minimum of 12 inches in height, width, or depth, stay on your head without holding on to it, and be constructed well enough to not fall apart while on parade. We are happy to report there were no hat casualties while on parade. The students loved it, both those on parade and the onlookers. Many of the onlookers have years to think about what hat they will create. For photos of the 8th graders and their hats click here.
