Creighton University School of Medicine put on a 4 weeklong program called Fit For Life. Fourth and fifth grade students participated in a daily "Healthy Habits" curriculum and set three healthy goals for themselves. During the four-week period, the medical students visited once a week to teach about healthy foods, staying active and how to apply these new habits. They discussed nutrition and exercise and made healthy snacks for the students. They also put on a "field day" in the gym, which consisted of lots of exercise, games, prizes and fun! Students can earn points for working to meet their own personal health goals. At the end of the program the classes win a special field trip to celebrate their new knowledge and success at meeting their goals. St. Mary's and St. Matthew's students who participated earned a field trip to "Pump It Up" in Omaha near the end of March.
