Love For Art Started at St. Mary’s!

RebekahFaceRebekah Menzel will graduate from Benedictine College, in Atchison, Kansas in May with a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education. For her Senior Composition, she was required to put a body of work together for a senior art show. Her exhibition was entitled "Simplicity." Rebekah presented her artist statement and work to friends and family October 3, 2014 in the O'Malley McAllister Auditorium at Benedictine College. She spoke about her inspirations; family, nature, and the beauty of imperfections in God's creation. Then she invited her guests to view her work in the Gallery of Art. Her exhibition consisted of acrylic painting on canvas and wood, mixed media photo transfers on wood, and ceramics. Rebekah considers St. Mary's art teacher Mrs. Stacey Schutt and her parents as her role models. She says growing up with their creativity and positivity, gave her a solid foundation to let her own creativity thrive. Their support encouraged her to develop her artistic skills.
