Tis' the season to make bookmarks, first Advent, now leather. Each year, around this time, a Tandy Leather representative comes to Mrs. Feagan's 4th grade class to teach the kids about different kinds of leathers. He shows them what they look like and then passes the hides around so the students can feel the differences between several types of leather including springbok and python. He teaches them about the three types of tanning processes: chrome, brain and vegetable. He gives each student a piece of leather and leather tools so they can make their own bookmark. The kids love it! They also have the opportunity to order a leather kit that will be delivered in a week if they'd like to work more with leather. For more photos click here.
