Senora Albert, Sean's Mom, made a special visit on Halloween to talk about "The Day of the Dead," and build an ofrenda, (an altar) in the classroom. She explained what each item was and why they are placed on the ofrenda. A candle is lit to attract the spirits for their visit on November 1st and 2nd. The students got to see Pan de Muerto, bread of the dead, and many colorful artifacts from Mexico. The Day of the Dead is a special day celebrated in many countries around the world, particularly in Mexico where it is a holiday. During this holiday family and friends pray for and remember friends and family who have died. The students played a fun game to cap off the visit! Gracias a Senora Albert!
