River City Roundup

RCR3v2What a great experience for St. Mary's 3rd and 4th graders to go to the River City Roundup. Who doesn't want to touch a soft baby pig, a real one, only 2 days old? Who squealed more the little pink piglet with all the attention or the children touching him? There were fun things to do like go to a magic show where the lady grossed the kids out when she told them to tell their moms that lipstick is made from cow and pig fat! There was lots of learning going on too! Who knew all the things one of Nebraska's biggest crop, corn is used for? Did you know in 1908 Henry Ford used ethanol for his Model T and that Indy cars use 85% ethanol while NASCAR uses 15%. Interesting! We were also reminded often to thank a farmer. It sure is fun to go on these field trips that expand on our book learning. For more photos click here.
