Seventh grader Katie Goetz won the U12 Nebraska USBC State Pepsi Bowling Tournament in Columbus. By winning this tournament, she received an automatic entry and will represent the State of Nebraska in the U12 division of the Junior Gold Championships in Buffalo, New York July 12-18.
Katie's path to her State title started by winning her division at Maplewood Lanes in Omaha in November and advancing to the State Pepsi Tournament. In the qualifying squads completed in Columbus in early March, she finished second out of thirty-seven girls with a six-game scratch pin count of 955. The top six girls advanced to the finals on March 29 where they bowled in head-to-head competition. Katie went undefeated in head-to-head preliminary play and won the title by 40 pins with an average score of 165 for the day.
Congratulations, Katie, and good luck in Buffalo.
