Every year 4th graders from St. Matthews drive over to this side of town to join St. Mary's 4th graders to celebrate "Statehood Day". The actual day fell on a Saturday this year but that didn't stop them from enjoying Nebraska shaped cookies and the state's drink, Kool-Aid, Friday, February 28th. To top off their celebration, Peter Sarpy [aka: Darrell Draper, a storyteller from the Nebraska Humanities Council] enlightened and entertained the students with an interactive history lesson about the history of our great state. He is so good at bringing our state's history to life. All the fourth graders will meet again March 28th for their annual visit to Lincoln. Another one of the highlights of being a 4th grader is to visit the state capitol. For more photos click here.
