The Greater Omaha Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) provides $1,000 grants for noteworthy science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs in the Omaha Metropolitan area and our technology teacher, Mrs. Sweeting, has been awarded a grant this year. Mrs. Sweeting will use the grant to purchase Arduino Boards. These are an open-source electronics prototyping platform which budding electrical engineers can program to control lights and motors. It is becoming extremely important in today's information age for students to have a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations. By adding electronics to our current program, we can give our students the opportunity to experience computer science in multiple disciplines.
