What's that noise from upstairs? That might have been the comment from Miss Sheridan or any of her 8th graders one school morning. Could it be Santa's workers? Or could it be young designers stamping away on leather? Yes, that's it! Mr. Clark of Tandy Leather visited the 4th grade classroom and after viewing a variety of hides from ostrich to python and learning about tanning, each student was given an opportunity to hammer away with a special mallet and leather tools- creating their very own bookmark. What a special treat for them as they learned about the importance and oftentimes the necessity of hides to Native Americans, Pilgrims and people of today. For Jeongbin, of South Korea, this activity opened up doors of creativity to use this new art when she designs purses, her present day hobby and hopefully her future career.
