A Team First

ChessTeam1St. Mary's Chess players brought home their first TEAM trophy. Sixteen of our players competed at Central High School's Chess Tournament, one of the biggest tournaments in the Omaha area with 317 students, from 74 schools participating. The St. Mary's team took 3rd place in the competition. Great job everyone!

Congratulations to these students who participated and placed:

3rd Grade: Joe Kouba 4th place, Jude Storch 6th place, Harshil Amin 8th place, Julia Bennett 9th place

4th Grade: Vincent Morales 3rd place, Nathan Schmitz 5th place, Zachary Prewitt 7th place, Louis Carranza 7th place.

5th Grade: Dane Storch 1st place, Nick Kouba 1st place, Jake Hwangbo 2nd place, Fredy Kadjo, 5th place, Joe Seaman 6th place, Gabe Tweedy 6th place

6th Grade: Eric Kang 2nd Place, Jack Nam Placed

Last week, Mr. Kim our Chess Coach for the past 5 years said goodbye to the team. He is moving to California. We will certainly miss him. We are blessed to have another great coach Mr. Carney who is in his second year working with us.

St Mary's Information

St. Mary's Catholic School is a Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade School of the Archdiocese of Omaha. Our mission is to provide a Catholic education that nurtures students' hearts and minds to become servant leaders in an ever-changing world.

Our philosophy of education is to offer a five-day program to assist families in teaching those truths, skills, and ideals, which are necessary for Christian living. We believe that education must develop the faculties and abilities of the whole child: spiritually, intellectually, physically, and emotionally. To help achieve this, our faculty and staff are an integral part of the formation of Christian community and dedicate themselves to the task of developing Christian citizens.
