Ellie Kolesik has a beautiful smile and with good reason. Friends and people she doesn't even know have donated money, goods and services totaling almost $50,000 for much needed dental work. Her dental insurance wouldn't foot the bill for her rare condition. A feature article in the Omaha World Herald on October 22nd told the story of Ellie, a 15 year old Bellevue West student born with a rare dental disease that eroded her tooth enamel and kept her in pain most of her life. All of her teeth had to be removed. Ellie will be getting dental implants early next year. Most of the costs have been generously donated but lab work and life long dental costs still remain. Her mother, Sue, was recently diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer and had surgery. She will have to undergo radiation treatments. The family has 3 other children in addition to Ellie. One of them is a 5th grader at St. Mary's School. If you would like to help Ellie and her family, St. Mary's is having a soup fundraiser November 23rd from 11-3 in the parish center. There is also an online fundraiser for the family. Click here to make a donation.
