Tracy Wieser from the Nebraska Humane Society brought Baxter to visit St. Mary's students. What a story she had to tell of a little dog's harrowing experience and survival. Baxter's owner abused him, causing severe brain injury. A neighbor reported the abuse to the Humane Society who rescued him. Baxter found a new home filled with special love, peace and care. What a great example for the students, never abuse an animal and take action if you know it's happening. St. Francis of Assisi would be so very proud! The Nebraska Humane Society is the 5th largest in the United States with over 60 animals rescued every day, that's 20,000 every year. The 4th graders are running a Humane Society Drive to help take care of these animals. They are collecting items through October 11th. Donations of towels, blankets, toys and new jars of peanut butter would be very helpful along with your prayers. For more photos click here.
