St. Mary's 3rd-5th graders have been spurred into action after being inspired by a recent class visit from Ugandan priest Father Fred. The students want to make book bags for students in Fr. Fred's area in Uganda. They learned that young students walk a long distance to school, carrying their school supplies and books in plastic grocery bags because they have no book bags. Our students would like to gather the supplies needed to sew simple drawstring bags to mail to Uganda. Fr. Fred will be able to take it from there! If you have cotton fabric, thread, nylon or cotton cording for drawstrings that you would like to donate we would like to accept it! If you would prefer to support this project financially that would be appreciated as well. There will be some cost for the materials to sew the bags, as well as the cost of sending them to Uganda. Please contact Cindy Menzel at 402-291-1694 (school), 402-292-2076 (home) or drop by the school office. The deadline for making donations to the Ugandan project is October 31st. Thank you for your support!
