St. Mary's students celebrated reading Nebraska Golden Sower books at a voting party last Thursday in the library. The Golden Sower program, Nebraska's Children's Choice award program, encourages children to read from among 10 nominated books each year. Nineteen students in grades 4 through 8 accomplished the admirable feat of reading at least four of the ten books nominated this year. After discussing and voting for their favorites, they enjoyed snacks and juice with their fellow readers. St. Mary's 2nd graders voted earlier in the week for their favorites. Mrs. Sobilo and Mrs. Reckmeyer had read the ten books to them during the past month. All votes were submitted electronically to the Golden Sower website, and now we have to wait until mid-May to find out which books will be named state winners.
