Presidents and First Ladies graced the halls of St. Mary's School. Taking the idea from a former St. Mary's teacher, Mrs. Langhorst, 4th graders researched the life and events of a president; wrote a report and a speech, and presented it to visitors in their own wax museum. The entry fee for guests and students was a donation for the Bellevue food pantry. Donations totaled 84 items. From Rough Rider, Teddy Roosevelt, who proudly spoke about the "teddy bear" to Michelle Obama who ended her speech with a reminder to students to eat healthy and exercise, the 4th graders taught students from kindergarten to third grade about the presidents and their wives. Eleanor Roosevelt sat in a wheelchair as her husband did during his presidency; Jackie Kennedy told about her husband, JFK, being the only Catholic president and Gerald Ford told of his Nebraska roots since he was born right here in Omaha. It was only an hour but the students should remember the presidents for years to come. For more photos click here.
