Cyber Leaders Lend a Hand

STEM_awardCyber Leaders recognize St. Mary's Linda Sweeting's initiatives in robotics. Mrs. Sweeting is one of seven to win a Greater Omaha Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) $1,000 teaching grant. AFCEA is the premier cyberspace, information technology, communications, and electronics association for professionals in international government, industry and academia. Their goal with these teaching grants is to foster excellence in education particularly in the "hard science" disciplines. Mrs. Sweeting attended a workshop to learn about the CEENBoT robotics program and thought this would be a great addition to her STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) class since her students are very interested in programming. With the grant money she has purchased three bots. Right now, the class is researching the use of robots in our culture from movies and toys to the military. Later this month the students will assemble the bots and start using them. Stay tuned.
