During Catholic Schools Week, wild animals roamed the school library! Stuffed animals were used to help kindergarteners learn about library materials and etiquette. Mrs. Reckmeyer read the book, I Took My Frog to the Library, about a little girl whose pets cause mischief in the library. Students chose a stuffed animal and imagined how that animal might behave in the library. They practiced their writing skills by completing a sentence explaining what their animal did, and drew a picture to accompany their story. They practiced their oral skills by telling their stories which Mrs. Reckmeyer videotaped. The resulting movie was shown during Parent/Teacher conferences. Now, students will learn new technology skills as Mrs. Sweeting shows them how to develop PowerPoint presentations of their animal stories and illustrations. And to think, it all started with a frog in the library!
