In honor of National Popcorn day (Jan 18th) St. Mary's 5th graders and their Pre-K buddies celebrated by spending time together.
The aroma of freshly popped corn wafted through the air as they listened to a "popcorn themed" book while munching on the crunchy treat. The students learned some interesting facts about popcorn, (DID YOU KNOW the oldest ears of popcorn were found in bat caves in New Mexico and are 4,000 years old?) They also learned a bit of history on how popcorn has been used throughout the years. They thought it was kind of cool that the colonists liked to eat popcorn with cream on it for breakfast! Not a bad idea!!
