Deacon Lee Mayhan lost his bid at last years Benefit Auction, but came out a winner. He is the owner of a second 4th grade Saint quilt. Last years 4th graders with the help of Mrs. Goetz, Mrs. Kimsey (the teachers aide) and Mrs Feagan drew and colored a saint onto squares of fabric. Mrs. Kimsey finished the quilt for the auction. During the Oral Auction there were 2 people vying for the Saint quilt. When the bidding ceased there was a winner, Jeannie Hascall. (The quilt resides on her granddaughter, Jamie's bed. She loves it!) The story could have ended there but it doesn't. The ladies who helped create the quilt asked Mrs. Feagan if they could ask the man if he would match the bid they would help create an identical quilt. He said YES and another quilt was born! Mrs. Feagan was back in Nebraska City buying the white quilt squares and religious materials for the backing and Mrs. Goetz was back in the 4th grade class helping the students complete another 32 quilt squares. Mrs. Kimsey completed the second quilt which was recently presented to the "loser" turned "winner". Thanks to both of the winners for their generosity to the school's auction.
