We started learning about the invisible bucket the very 1st day of school. Toward the end of the 1st week, one of my little girls came up to me with a Bucket Filler note. She asked me if I could give it to her sibling's teacher. The note was thanking her Pre-K sibling for being brave and not crying on the first days of school, telling her sibling that she had filled the 3rd grader's bucket. Then I thought back to when I had this same 3rd grader's older sibling in my class 3-4 years ago. I could distinctly remember this little Pre-K child always wailing loudly as she walked down the hall. One day the Pre-K student was allowed to stop by the 3rd grade room to give her older sibling a hug or say hi. From that day forward there was no more crying. So our invisible bucket filling is indeed stretching beyond the boundaries of our classrooms.
