This is Mrs. Laney's 12th year as the School Nurse at St. Mary's School. Although she is employed at Midlands Hospital, she comes to St. Mary's every Tuesday without charging the school as part of their community outreach. Mrs. Laney received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Clarkson College of Nursing. She is an 81' Graduate of St. Mary's School, got married at St. Mary's Church, and her parents have been long time members of the church. Mrs. Laney loves the community, the kids and the families. In fact, she says several kids she went to school with at St. Mary's are now parents, and she is taking care of their children. She says that's always fun. So was being able to see her Mom every Tuesday when her Mom, Mrs. Kibler was the Director of Extended Day Care at St Mary's.

Mrs. Becky Billings has been a teaching assistant at St. Mary's since 2007 working with grades Pre-K through 5th. She loves working with younger children, where she watches students progress from being barely able to write one or two sentences to writing two page stories. Mrs. Billings also loves going to church on Sunday and seeing the students going up to communion. She says, "They look over and see me and my family and they will wave and say 'Hi Mrs. Billings!' like they can't believe they have seen me here."

The students are used to seeing her everywhere. She started getting involved at St. Mary's in the lunchroom when her youngest daughter was in Pre-K, and it blossomed from there. She helps with the Annual Children's Benefit Auction, Halloween Fun Night, event clean-ups, the fireworks stand, and Arrows to Aerospace Parade. Her husband, Cory, also coaches basketball for St. Mary's. "I think if the kids see parents helping and serving the school and parish, they then understand how important it is for them to give back and serve their community too. St. Mary's only runs because of the great people that volunteer their time to make it what it is - which is the best school and church around!" Becky and Cory's two daughters attended St. Mary's school since they were in Pre-K. Callie graduated in 2015 and Jaycee graduated in 2016.

Mr. Sam Kallman works in St. Mary's extended day care program and as a teaching assistant in primary grade classrooms. Mr. Sam was hired in August of 2017, originally working part time in the before and after school program. For the past two years, he has been able to work during the school day as well as after school. You can usually find him in the primary wing, helping out in the office, or in Extended Day. He really enjoys the different dynamics of his average work day; he gets to help students learn in the classroom as well as play games like "the floor is lava" with them after school. Being able to get to know the school families when they come to pick up their child(ren) is equally enjoyable. He hopes to see you and your family around very soon!
