School Counselor

Counseling

St. Mary's School works with Catholic Social Services and local counseling agencies to assist students and families who are in need of services. Students may be referred to the counseling agency by the principal, parents, teachers or the student himself/herself. For academic or classroom social issues, a plan of action is written. We are here to make sure a troubled heart receives consolation. Confidentiality and respect for all persons are strictly maintained.

Students with Special Needs

Students may be referred to Bellevue Public Schools for testing. Parents or teachers may refer students for evaluation of learning abilities. A student is then evaluated by the Bellevue Special Education team and recommendations are made according to the student's needs. Students may be placed on an individual learning plan and receive services from Bellevue Public Schools if they qualify. Students who have diagnosed medical conditions that may impact learning may be referred to the St. Mary's Student Assistance Team (SAT) team for review of needs. Students who qualify may be placed on a 504 plan. The St. Mary's resource teacher and SAT team will monitor the 504 plans.

Meeting High Ability Learner's Needs

Students who qualify as high ability learners (HAL) may participate in the HAL program offered by Bellevue Public Schools. We had 11 students who participated in this program during the 2014-2015 school year. For more information, please contact the principal.

St Mary's Information

St. Mary's Catholic School is a Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade School of the Archdiocese of Omaha. Our mission is to provide a Catholic education that nurtures students' hearts and minds to become servant leaders in an ever-changing world.

Our philosophy of education is to offer a five-day program to assist families in teaching those truths, skills, and ideals, which are necessary for Christian living. We believe that education must develop the faculties and abilities of the whole child: spiritually, intellectually, physically, and emotionally. To help achieve this, our faculty and staff are an integral part of the formation of Christian community and dedicate themselves to the task of developing Christian citizens.
