Pre-Kindergarten
Our Pre-Kindergarten program will emphasize and encourage the following:
- Spiritual Development: learning simple prayers, listening to Bible stories, and developing self-esteem
- Social Development: sharing, participation, obedience, courtesy, ability to adjust, responsibility, and appreciation & respect for others.
- Language Development: speaking in complete sentences, sharing ideas, speaking clearly & audibly, telling stories, and identifying all 26 upper and lower case letters and their sounds
- Number Development: identifying numbers 0-10; counting by memory from 1-30; identifying the 10 basic colors of: red, blue, yellow, orange, green, purple, black, brown, pink, & white; identifying the shapes of a circle, square, triangle, rectangle, heart, diamond, oval, and star; understanding the concept of time
- Personal Development: buttoning and zipping clothes, as well as tying shoes; caring for toilet needs independently; hanging up coat; putting toys away
- Fine Motor Skills: printing first name, tracing a line, and holding & using crayons & scissors correctly
- Auditory Perception: listening attentively, following oral directions, and recognizing rhyming words
- Visual Perception: matching shapes, sizes, letters, and colors; following a pattern; and recognizing printed name
- Development in Art: developing an eagerness to explore art media, drawing lines & shapes, and showing creativity
- Development in Music: listening to and enjoying music and rhythms; enjoying singing, dancing, and using instruments
- Work and Play Habits: following directions, obeying classroom rules & using materials well, and completing tasks
- Health and Safety: realizing the importance of being well-rested, enjoying nutritious snacks, trying unfamiliar foods, and being aware of & observing safety rules
