A Note from the Teacher
In Music classes this Fall we started out by reviewing and practicing good vocal techniques. We have explored the effect of posture on the sounds we produce. We are currently studying about the "Science of Singing" and exactly how our voices are produced.
At this time of the school year, we work on new music to sing at our All School Masses. We have recently learned a new Mass setting, The Heritage Mass, which we will use for our school masses as well as parish masses on the weekends.
Believe it or not, the First through Fifth Graders will soon begin work on the music for this year's Christmas Program. The theme this year is "Christmas Around the World," and it will feature songs in English, Spanish, German and possibly even Korean thanks to our Korean exchange students!
Fourth and Fifth Grade Students are ready to begin their recorder studies in preparation for the Communities LinkUp! program with the Omaha Symphony Orchestra in March. They are excited, especially since parents can purchase a ticket and come to the concert to hear what the kids have been doing most of the year.
The middle school students will begin their Music Theory studies in October followed by Music History to round out the first semester. All students will soon begin working on a new song for our annual Veterans Day program.
